1962 Austin Cafe Cooper Mini 998

1962 Austin Mini "Cafe Cooper Racer"
Sold new by Carey & Lambert Ltd of Southampton brand new, this car was sold to E French & Son of Hamble Southampton
The car being a Deluxe was painted blue and upgraded to Cooper Disc Brakes with reverse rims, the 850 engine taken out and replaced with a Cooper 998 with twin 1.5" SU carbs in 1963, driven for a few years and parked up
It was then found 2 years ago, had a recommission and I am the third owner from new, from my knowledge the car has never left Hampshire and the 12000 mileage is genuine and has not been welded nor does it need any
The car starts and runs superbly, it has been upgraded to electronic ignition
The paint is crazed and this is VERY much a preservation car, far nicer than any fully restored car, it turns heads everywhere
It has lots of lovely little additions and is a true "cafe cooper racer"
A truly lovely car and I know I will regret selling this
