Fordson Standard N
Fordson Standard N - Ploughing Tractor
Just arrived is this charming iconic Fordson N, having been used as a ploughing machine most weekends the owner retired and the N was surplus to requirements
The tractor has been made for ploughing, full width hitch, swinging seat and large toolbox on the footplate
I've just fitted a reconditioned magneto, the tractor starts and runs very well on both fuels, is full of water and free of any frost damage or mixing of fluids
The tractor sits on a lovely set of Fisher Humphries wheels with nice tyres all round
The clutch is the best in an N I have ever had, no dragging at all and no grinding of gears, the steering is also very tight
The tinwork has a lovely aged patina and when painted was sprayed and done very well, it has a lovely stance
I have the original green buff logbook and an old tax disc from 1968, I don't have a modern v5 so this would need applying for
Being a "CV" registration the tractor original came from Truro Cornwall, the first entry on the green buff is in 1954 to a James Bridgman Curtis of Kigsby Hay, Beaworth, Devon, that is the only entry so is a low owner tractor
The tractor has the 2243 transmission (low top)
The buff logbook shows the tractor as late 1939 so it has had a few bits changed over the years like most Fordson N's
A lovely tractor ready to be enjoyed, a joy to drive
